At the Pool

Antosia went to the swimming pool today with her 10.5-month-old friend. The kids don’t really know yet that they can play together, but it’s still a success that they don’t get in each other’s way or even feel jealous of one another.

Antosia’s friend is already walking beautifully. When I told a friend of mine about our morning, she immediately asked if I felt sad watching Antosia’s healthy, walking, slightly younger friend… I was a bit surprised, and it was only after her comment that I actually thought about it…

I didn’t feel sad at all. Ever since Antosia was born, I’ve known that the fight for our daughter to walk independently will be long and difficult. I also knew at what age children usually start walking. I am very happy that other children can already be so independent, and I also hope that Antosia will catch up with them one day, and maybe even surpass them. But my biggest dream is for Antosia to have plenty of friends who won’t look at her through the prism of her legs and hand.
