Doubts
Complications during Antosia’s treatment meant that, deep down, we had constant, endless doubts about the sense of the entire treatment. In the USA, we saw the daily progress of other children, which was often much faster than our little girl’s. I didn’t even have the courage to admit that such thoughts were occupying my mind. Liliana and I only talked about this at home, and it was a bit of a taboo subject for us.
Last Wednesday, a lot changed. In a fraction of a second. I cannot describe what was going on in my head. I also think that no one but Liliana and me can understand it and perceive it in the same way. The moment I saw Antosia stand up and walk on her own is one of the most important in my life. I am aware that for every parent this moment is beautiful and important, but for us, it is something more. It is a huge breakthrough in Antosia’s and our lives. “Something” we had been eagerly waiting for through long months. “Something” we, and everyone around us, worked hard on day in and day out: doctors, physiotherapists, family… Even Michasia, Antosia’s younger sister, had a big part in this success.
I know that Antosia and we still have many greater challenges and difficulties to overcome. However, for now, we are living in the moment and enjoying this everyday life:
