We left at around 3:40 AM. Antosia didn’t cry once during the entire journey. Once we arrived, she was admitted to the hospital, followed by blood collection into three test tubes. It was highly stressful for Tosia, resulting in many tears. Around 11:00 AM, the doctor supervising our care came to ask about her congenital defects and briefly explain tomorrow’s procedure. At 1:00 PM, there was a medical consultation where the doctors examined Antosia, and the decision to proceed with the surgery was confirmed. This was followed by a pediatrician’s visit. We have been in our room since 2:00 PM, waiting to see what tomorrow brings…

We didn’t get much sleep last night. True to her social nature, she cried along with the other children in the ward—just to keep them company. Around 7:30 AM, she received a local anesthetic on her feet. Ward rounds were at 8:00 AM, and at 9:00 AM, the procedure we had been waiting for began. We were with Antosia almost the entire time. We only had to leave the room for the incision itself—about 10 minutes. We returned while they were already applying the cast. She only cried for a brief moment—by the time they were casting, she was already happy. The procedure was not entirely successful. Unfortunately, the Achilles tendon in her right leg is only vestigial, so the incision did not yield the intended results. Sadly, after about 2 hours of lying in the room, Antosia kicked off the cast from her right leg. She had to have her leg recasted. The doctors warned us that if either cast falls off, we have 24 hours to report back to Otwock…;/ We will be extremely careful. July 16th—check-up and cast removal. The countdown begins…
