Preparing for Antosia's 15th Surgery in the USA
After a few days of acclimatization and organizing our daily life in the USA, we are beginning the most important week of this trip. Today, Antosia had her pre-operative visit at the Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute. Behind us are consultations with doctors, medical tests, X-rays, and the final discussion of the treatment plan. This is always a special moment. On one hand, there is stress and many questions; on the other, immense hope that the next stage will bring Antosia closer to even greater mobility and independence. Currently, she is struggling most with knee pain, especially during longer walks and climbing stairs. Tight scars, pain in the heel area, and a rotated foot are also troublesome. The treatment will include lengthening both lower legs, and correcting the alignment of her legs and feet. It is hard to believe that Wednesday’s surgery will already be the 15th procedure in Antosia’s life. Over the last few years, she has undergone:
💚 14 surgeries,
💚 over 1,000 hours of rehabilitation,
💚 hundreds of tests and X-rays (we don’t even count them anymore) 💚 thousands of hours of exercises and fighting for every single step. Today, she is already a teenager. She has her passions, friends, dreams, and plans. We are all the more glad that she can see so many positives in every treatment trip… even though there are so many difficulties around. How does she do it? 🥹♥️🤷♀️ From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank Fundacja Dar Serca and Mrs. Izabela Rybak. ❤️
Your support is not only organizational and financial help. It is also a sense of security, kindness, and the knowledge that we are not alone on this journey. We would also like to thank everyone who has been cheering Antosia on all these years, supporting her with kind words, and keeping their fingers crossed for her. ❤️ An important Wednesday lies ahead. Keep your fingers crossed for Antosia. 🍀❤️ This will be the beginning of the next chapter of her story. 💚
