My story
Antosia was born on March 21, 2012. From the very first moments of her life, we had to face a diagnosis that sounded like a verdict to many – bilateral fibular hemimelia. This meant the absence of fibula bones in both legs along with several other associated conditions.
In Poland, the only option offered to us was amputation of both legs and learning to walk on prostheses. We refused to accept that. We began the fight for Antosia's mobility, which led us to the USA, to the clinic of Dr. Dror Paley – a renowned surgeon who gives children like Antosia a chance to walk on their own legs.
Years of fighting and thousands of hours of rehabilitation
Thanks to the support of thousands of kind-hearted people, Antosia has already undergone 14 complex reconstructive and lengthening surgeries. Each one involved pain, months in casts and external fixators. However, our daughter's determination is stronger than any obstacle.
Today, Antosia is an active, smiling girl. She goes to school, plays with her peers, and practices sports we once could only dream of. But the journey isn't over. As she grows, Antosia's legs require further corrections and ongoing, costly rehabilitation so she can enjoy full mobility as an adult.
Your help allows us to cover rehabilitation costs, specialist appointments, and the next stages of treatment. Thank you for being with us!
