Warsaw 22-25.09.

We began our stay in the capital by attending a gathering for children with hand differences, organized by the “W naszych rękach” association. There were many activities for the children, but Antosia is still a bit too young to actively participate in all the games. However, next year, she and her peer, Filipek, who also has hand and foot differences, will show everyone what they can do.

After the meeting, we had one day OFF to explore Warsaw. Antosia loved the friendly squirrels in the Łazienki Park the most.

And yesterday, we had the long-awaited appointment with Prof. Czubak regarding her fibular hemimelia… This time, unfortunately, it was a bit more realistic. On October 25th, Antosia will undergo another surgery in Otwock. Another Achilles tendon lengthening. And casts again… Hopefully, they will be removed before Christmas. Someone in the comments section wrote earlier that things couldn’t be that bad with her legs if they wanted to do something with them. I thought so too. Now I know that the surgeries in Otwock are meant to prepare Antosia’s tibias for amputation; they need to be as straight as possible. Now we are just waiting for October 1st for our consultation with Dr. Paley—perhaps he will say something different, but will that be a better solution…?
