8-plate

In less than ten hours, Antosia will undergo the final surgery of this stage of her treatment. We thought we would have a longer break from the operating room. Unfortunately, the valgus deformity in Antosia’s right knee is significant enough that we cannot wait. A special plate (8-plate) will be screwed into her right tibia, just as shown in the illustration. This will allow the bone to grow only on the outer side, gradually correcting the valgus deformity over the next two years.

It won’t be a long surgery. Antosia should spend less than an hour in the operating room. However, the stress is just the same as with every previous one. Keep your fingers crossed. We hope she recovers quickly, we leave the hospital, and we can finally focus only on returning to Poland.
